Beauty Salon have evolved from places where only hair is done to full service salons that offer services that include the Brazilian Blowout, massages, manicures and pedicures. With the additional services there is more exposure to airborne chemicals for both staff and customers. Here are 7 best features to choose to assure that the cleaner you choose will make a difference.

Choose Carbon—Well known for its ability to absorb gaseous pollutants, it is essential that a salon cleaner have a substantial amount of carbon. The harder it is the more absorbent. And for this reason carbon that has its origin in coconut shells gives you a huge advantage towards improving the air quality.

Additive for Chemicals—Potassium Iodide when added to carbon has been found to be particularly effective at eliminating the types of chemicals that salon products produce. This additive is particularly effective at removing formaldehyde as well as chemicals that off-gas from nail polish, polish remover, hardener, and acrylics. With more and more people becoming more concerned about their personal health, and the environment, this is a proactive way to improve both.

Split Capacitor Motor—Many products off-gas fumes that linger in the air for hours. Multiply those fumes times the number of technicians in your salon and it’s easy to see that the chemicals in the air can increase exponentially.

To keep the air quality from taking a nose-dive (particularly at peak times in the evenings and on weekends), you need a cleaner that can run 24 hours a day whether you are there or not. This constant cleaning will virtually eliminates fumes and make the air smell fresh and healthy all the time. A split capacitor motor is capable of running continuously, safely, and efficiently.

360 Degree Intake—A purifier that can pull air from all sides will keep you many more options in terms of where it can be placed in your salon. Generally all it should need is about 6 inches from any surface to function with 100% efficiency. Units that have limited intake often dictate that the unit be placed in the middle of the room or in some other inconvenient place which may not be possible for you in your shop. » Read more: Beauty Salon Air Purifier – 7 Best Features to Choose

Moment of Thoughts…

When I was a child, the cold winter months turned slowly and gradually into the crispness of spring when the first flowers pushed gingerly but nevertheless determined their heads through the still half frozen soil and young leaves covered the bare branches of trees and shrubs like a lacy veil, indicating that nature was waking up and preparing for a new cycle of growth. The skies were blue, a still hesitant sun started to caress life and the air was fresh and filled with the promise of the heat of the coming summer. Was it really like that? Or is it the ever so often tainted memory that tricks our mind into believing that things were easier, less complicated and more pleasant, natural etc. etc. — just ‘better’?

I don’t have the answer to that — however, arriving from the tropical heat (32 degrees C) and high humidity of South East Asia to a cold and wet Germany, I was greeted by 12 degrees C, wind and rain – in the second half of June. That really makes me wonder… After all, the last few weeks had already seen beautiful skies, sunshine and unusually high temperatures — before plummeting to the present cold. On top of this, the days were filled by an unpredictable succession of all conceivable forms of weather — abrupt downpours, accompanied by gales of wind, interspersed by sudden outbursts of sun and warmth and a blue sky… which changed to dark clouds within a matter of minutes — and made me turn on the heating… » Read more: Beauty at Your Fingertips
